***Due to the severity of the weather predicted last evening, the Information Session for the Instrumental Music Department was postponed.  The new time will be next Thursday, June 10 at 6:30pm.  The location will be the field behind the high school.

The South Plainfield Music Department is holding an informational session for students interested in learning to play a musical instrument.  The session will be outside at the High School Band Practice field located behind the South Plainfield High School.  The session will be at 7:00pm on June 3.  The rain date will be June 10.  At this event, we will have an overview of the music program as well as a representative from Music and Arts to discuss instrument rentals.  Students and parents will be able to see the instruments that are available and there will be high school students on site to demonstrate.

Just a note:

  • Students entering 3rd grade in the 2021-2022 school year are eligible to play an orchestra instrument (Violin, viola, cello, bass)
  • Students entering 4th grade in the 2021-2022 school year are eligible to play an orchestra and a band instrument (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone Baritone, Tuba, Mallet Percussion)

It is never too late for your child to start an instrument.  If they missed out last year due to the pandemic, now is a great opportunity to get started.
